Project Info

The project comprises the construction of 3 airstrips in the Rub’h Al Khali (Empty Quarters) along the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the Sultanate of Oman at Shabitah, Zaabalot and Ardah.
The designs of the airstrips were in compliance with ICAO reference 3C, including a 2,100 meter long x 30 meter wide runway to receive C130 plane or similar aircraft.

Project Highlights:

Civil (79 %) :

  • Construction of concrete runway having 2,100 meter long x 30 meter wide with 7.5 meter soil cement shoulders.
  • Construction of soil cement taxiway having 197 meter long x 18 meter wide with soil cement shoulders.
  • Construction of 600 square meter prefab passenger and cargo building.
  • Construction of 112 square meter prefab crash and rescue building.
  • Construction of 80 square meter prefab power house for the generators.
  • Constructions of soil cement perimeter road having 6,000 meter long x 5 meter wide connecting the building and runway.
  • Erection of 6,000 meter long x 1.4 meter high barbed wire fence.

Electrical (10 %):

  • Installation of 2 x 150 kw generators.
  • Installation of airfield lighting system and apron flood lights.
  • Installation of power supply networks to all buildings.

Mechanical (6 %):

  • Construction of 300 cubic meter water storage tank including water distribution system with septic tank.

Communication, Navigation & Air Traffic Control System:

  • Installation of Air Traffic Control, Communication and Navigation Aids.
